Why do standard calculators give wrong results for time calculations?
Standard calculators operate in base-10, treating 1h 30m + 45m as 1.30 + 0.45 = 1.75. Because time operates in base-60 (60 minutes per hour), this tool uses dedicated base-60 logic to output the correct 2 hours 15 minutes.
How can I calculate what time it will be in X minutes or what time it was X hours ago?
In the "Time From Now" tab, specify the base time (or click Current Time) and the duration to add or subtract to immediately see the future or past time. To find the remaining time until a target time, enter the current time as the start and the target time as the end in the "Elapsed Time" tab.
Can I deduct break time and calculate work shifts across midnight?
Yes. The Elapsed Time tab automatically detects overnight shifts (e.g., 23:00 to 07:00). Enter your break duration in minutes to calculate net work hours separately from total span.
How do I convert hours and minutes to decimal hours for work logs and spreadsheets?
The conversion is displayed automatically in the conversion panel below your result. For instance, 1 hour 30 minutes displays as 1.5 decimal hours.
Can I paste formatted time text like "1:30" directly?
Yes. In the Time Calculator tab, pasting text strings such as "1:30" or "90" into input fields automatically converts them into hours and minutes for calculation.
